Hi There – And just before the last show – the last part of the last workshop was dedicated to playing the Blues – a slow minor half way between Peter Green and the very modern Joe Bonamassa – our students got up one by one to play through two solos back to back – this was a chance for them to not only play with drums but also get the experience of playing at a louder volume, use guitar effects pedals to enhance their sound between the two solos – and get a sense of what it would actually be like to perhaps even Play a solo live on stage in front of family and friends.

A great chance for students to put into practice what they have been developing and working on in their playing in their lessons – as You’ll see and hear as you click on the video.

Already planning for the next workshop is underway – which will have a blues guitar theme suitable for various levels of guitar player.  As well as looking at some of the rock and even jazzier side of blues at this workshop – the video above shows the types of Blues Playing that students have been learning – whether its rock/blues in the styles of Jimi Hendrix/Buddy Guy through to players like Peter Green and BB King/ Albert King and also Chuck Berry.

Hi There – so above from the workshop Dan and Arnold with a swing jazz interpretation of Aqua Marina…

and below here they are performing at the student show :-

Arnold’s playing has evolved hugely allowing him to now handle not only Blues, but also Jazz and Rock musical situations – both playing chords/rhythm guitar – pre-planned solos and also improvising in all three.

Here are some of Arnold’s musical highlights  showing just how far his playing has come through to now :-

And ofcourse not forgetting Dan – equally showing to be capable in Jazz and Blues while still holding his own in rock – styles – here are some highlights of Dan playing classic AC/DC, Iron Maiden style and even some Metallica – seems his musical foundations just keep getting stronger and stronger :-

And here’s Callum and Josh playing Rumble at the Student Workshop – originally by Link Wray and The Ray Men – when it was released Rumble wasn’t played by radio stations who were worried that cinema crowds would riot during westside story – originally by Link Wray – whose music was again used in the mid 1990s in Quentin Tarrantino’s film Pulp Fiction.

And here’s Callum and Josh playing Rumble at the Christmas Student Show :-

They have really come along way in a very short space of time – here’s Callum and Josh Guitar journey – all the way from beginners playing just a few chords on Hey Joe, all the way to where they are now – confidently holding their own and effortlessly switching from rhythm to lead guitar :-

Just goes to show what is Possible!

And here was Scott handling all the lead guitar Parts on an instrumental version of Oasis’ Don’t Look Back In Anger – with Callum and Josh doing all the rhythm guitar parts – a great way to play and have fun without the pressures of stage lights or an audience – except for others who were playing at the workshop ofcourse.

From the recent show – here’s Arnold, together with Student Dan sharing Lead Guitar on TV theme Aqua Marina Jazz Style – as well as showcasing his blues playing On Need Your Love So Bad, ZZ Top Tush, and not forgetting a very memorable Jazz version of the GodFather theme – and also a snippet from Django Reinhard’s Minor Swing at one of the Workshops – all in all a great Year for Arnold and our other students.
